The Selfishly Happy Academy

Three years ago I wrote the blog, Selfishly Happy. Instantly the blog became one of my most loved pieces. Women from all over immediately connected with the concept. I didn’t realize when I put my truth out there for everyone that so many people would not only relate, but want the same thing for themselves. Years later I still get emails from women who stumble across the blog and ask me how they can become selfishly happy.

What I have become more and more sure of over the years is that no amount of resume work, interview prep or work life balance coaching can help a person achieve her goals if she has not claimed her happiness. If you feel guilty about pursuing your dreams or don’t value yourself enough to take time out for you, you will remain stuck. I can’t coach a single mom to design her daily activities if she feels guilt around carving out “me time.” You can’t productively work on a promotion, a raise or a new business when you’re in your own way.

So I’ve created the Selfishly Happy Academy. A 30 day movement designed to introduce you to unadulterated, empowered, free happiness! The last time I was THIS excited is when I found a six pack of break and bake chocolate chip cookies at Kroger for $1! I absolutely cannot wait to take this ride with you. Here are the deets:

Reflections and Goals of a Career and Empowerment Blogger

It’s amazing how much and how little can change in a year. 2015 has been one for the books. I have had my share of struggles and upsets and let downs, but I can honestly say that I feel great going into the next year. I have learned that what’s important is that you focus on the lesson. It’s the getting through and over that mean so much!

I find myself in an amazing place this year on my birthday. I’m happy, but introspective. I’m grateful and goal oriented. I’m determined yet satisfied. I’m all over, but centered. I’m just me. I’ve just found this special sweet spot that is everything. I think I’ve been arriving here forever.

As you know I don’t “do” resolutions. I think they’re traps. They don’t work for me. But I do set goals for the New Year and I do reflect on the past year and make affirmations to keep me motivated throughout my transitions.  So because you’ve been rocking with me and we’re like besties these days I wanted to share what I’m working on. I have created SMART goals for each of these items, but I’m not going to get into the specifics here and this is not at all a conclusive list. I’ll be working on something at all times and it’s in no particular order…it’s random…like me..That’s what makes me Drea!

Gratitude: Let's Share

With Thanksgiving around the corner now is the time when many people stop and give thanks for the people and things that they are thankful for. Whether or not you participate in the holiday, vocally acknowledging what you're grateful for is a practice that we all should get into. This year as I make decisions about next steps for my business and career, I thought that I'd spend some time expressing gratitude for a few of the lessons that I've learned in my career. Here are three things below:

Don't Rape My Page

Let me explain what I mean. I use social media as an avenue of expression. I communicate with family and friends, debate issues that I care about, support women who are doing wonderful things and yes...Promote my company, Live Well CPS, and my events, products and services. I am very aware of the messages that I send when I share links or post articles. I am giving the people that follow me...me. I am constantly reinforcing my personal and professional brand. As we all should.

But some of you don't get that and you intrude on this small special piece of the social media world that I've created with stuff that has nothing to do with me, my followers, my contacts or my brand. It's impersonal. It's a violation...and it's just plain rude. Please don't rape my page. For the record the following are a list of activities that I get personally offended by:

I Designed This For You

Ever since I started Boss Makers I've been getting calls, emails and inbox messages asking me if I can come up with an affordable, interactive program that's not limited to people in Akron and Atlanta. Sounds like a great idea to me especially since the numbers were so low for our last Boss Makers that I ended up changing the format and offering it as a webinar.

You've been asking for a coaching program that will allow you to network and work towards your goals, but doesn't cost hundreds of dollars per month. I've heard you and I've been working on delivering just that.

Introducing the 2016 Career Change Challenge. 3C 2016 is a 6 month group coaching program that is held completely online!!!! I'm so excited to be bringing this program to a select handful of ladies who are committed and ready for change. The six month program will be intensive, exclusive and revolutionary.
